Viana do Castelo Embroidery Notebook
Introducing the Viana Notebook from Terra Lusa, inspired by the traditional embroideries of Viana do Castelo. These embroideries have their origins in the rural villages of the county, where cotton and wool thread were used to create intricate designs on rural female costumes. The motifs and techniques used in these costumes have shaped the Viana embroideries, transforming them into a unique and commercial product. The embroideries are worked on three types of fabric: homemade linen, fine linen, and cotton, and are embroidered in blue, white, and red cotton thread.
The embroiderers of Minho draw their compositions with artistic intuition, inspired by natural motifs arranged symmetrically. Floral arrangements, such as camellias and hearts, are predominant among other motifs. The Viana embroideries have evolved to keep up with a more modern look while retaining their defining elements, finding new fabrics and textures as well as new uses for urban consumption objects.
The Viana Notebook is part of Terra Lusa’s collection of products that pay tribute to Portuguese Cultural Heritage, with each item representing 800 years of history, culture, and tradition. The collection includes notebooks, wrist watches, fans, eco bags, mini umbrellas, glasses cases, microfibre cloths, and adjustable book covers, all divided into themes of Portuguese roots and designed with quality and contemporary design in mind. Celebrate the rich traditions of Portugal with the Viana Notebook.
